Etimologis, kada benda (mashdar) yang berasalah dari kata to guide (membimbing, menunjukkan, mengatur, mengarahkan, menuntun, memberikan nasihat).

Year’s Book of Education (1995)

Is a process of helping individual through their own effort to discover and develop their potentialities both for personal happiness and social usefulness.

National Vocational Guidance Association (1973)

Vocational guidance is concerned primarily with helping individuals make decisions and choices involved in planning a future and building a career and affecting static factory vocational adjustment.
